Last Minute Holiday Gift Ideas for Travelers
We've been there! Oh no! It's almost the holidays & I forgot to get a gift for *insert important person*!
Have no fear because we have some great last minute ideas for that traveler (or even yourself) in your life! Doesn't even have to be for the holidays, these work for birthdays or any other celebration.
1. Eden & Thread Gift Card
We definitely can't start off this list without it! As our pieces are made to order, if you order late sadly they probably won't arrive in time. That's how we stay sustainable, however, gift cards arrive instantly to your or your friend's email & then they can get whatever they want from our collection! Your support is appreciated!
2. Packing Backpack
As airlines raise their prices and charge you for the tiniest things, an easy cost to cut from your trip is a checked bag! Plus, it saves you the risk of your bag getting lost. These packing backpacks are the perfect companion for any quick getaway or you can pair it with a carry-on suitcase for longer trips. They have the tons of pockets, and secure straps just like a suitcase. Plus, if you do have a roller bag there's a strap to slide it over the handle to give your shoulders a break if needed. It can hold a laptop and even has a wet clothing compartment just incase! We highly recommend picking one of these up as it's got so much space you won't have to worry about bringing home that extra gift you got this year!
3. Portable Charger
Phone batteries today have gotten pretty good, but phones have also become our GPS, our cameras, and so much more. So if they die while we're out on the town in the middle of a foreign country it can put you in quite the pickle. There are a lot of brands out there, however, our favorite is Anker. They make a charger that's compact, reliant, and you don't even need a cord for. It fits perfectly into a purse or other small bag and saves a lot of stress for when that battery turns red when filming your tenth reel or tiktok of the day. I personally have mine in my everyday bag as well!
4. Apple AirTags
When AirTags first came out, even I stopped & thought, "what on earth would you use that for?" Well turns out they're actually extremely useful little gadgets. For traveling they're a great tool for tracking luggage, your passport, a purse, or any other important item. I have one in each luggage & this is extremely helpful when my carry-on gets forcefully checked at the gate. Being able to see where your bag is incase it goes missing is a real game changer even in a world where airlines have their own tracking system. Throwing one these in for peace of mind has reduced a lot of stress.
5. Electronics Organizer
Gone are now the days of cords being jumbled up & trying to get things out of a bag only to have to untangle everything. This amazing organizer from BagSmart is my go-to for keeping cords & chargers neat and easily accessible. It has plenty of slots for cables, charging blocks, and even places for SD & SIM cards. You'll never need another one! The mesh pockets are so big my iPhone Max fits in it just about perfectly.
6. Belt Bag
Belt bags are basically fanny packs (bum bag if you're British) that have been rebranded to be fashionable again. Now you just wear them over your shoulder rather than your waist. These can actually be incredibly useful when you're hiking, walking around a city all day, or at a theme park when you want to carry less. I have personally taken mine to Cedar Point, the greatest rollercoaster park ever. It makes it much easier to be hands free and only carry the essentials. These are usually good for your phone (mine holds my iPhone Max), a small wallet, chapstick, a mini portable charger, and your keys. These are also perfect for a minimalist that doesn't want a whole bag! Oh and did I mention this one is water resistant??
7. Hanging Toiletry Bag
Long gone are the days of using a clunky toiletry bag that takes up way too much space in your suitcase. Today we're all about efficiency and maximizing every inch of our carry-ons to avoid those outrageous checked bag fees. A foldable hanging toiletry bag is the perfect solution as it takes up little space and even when you get to your destination you can put it on a hook saving the need for cluttering the sink and countertops. The clear lining allows you to see everything inside so you know exactly where all your things are and you don't have to dig around removing everything just to locate your shampoo. Great for hotels, cruises, and even visiting family! It's a perfect addition to your travel gear!
8. Luggage Protector
If you've ever been on an airplane you would know you luggage can really get put through the wringer either in the cargo hold or in the overhead compartments. This might not bother you too much if you buy a cheaper bag, but if you invested in a nice suitcase, especially if it has a hard shell, you'll want to protect it! I learned this lesson the hard way with my large baby blue Monos suitcase on my trip to Korea. It has scratches and scuffs I'll never get out. However, I got myself a plastic protector and it has saved me ever since! I can see the scuff marks on the plastic and it hasn't made a dent on the suitcase itself. I have one for my carry-on as well as my checked bag and it really gives me the peace of mind that I can keep them looking fresh for much longer!
9. Travel Jewelry Case
Traveling with jewelry can be a scary thing. It could get lost, stolen, or the necklaces might get all tangled. We want to do our best to protect these little accessories and that's why I recommend a travel jewelry case! Being able to throw in a few essential pieces, know exactly where everything is and prevent chains from getting tangled while in transit is perfect! Having specialized areas for earrings and rings, hooks for necklace chains, and adjustable cubbies for a bracelet or anything else keeps things organized and easily accessible. I can't imagine what I did before it!
10. Travel Adapter
If you've never left the country, you might not be aware that plugs around the world aren't all the same. In fact, not only can they look completely different but they might not even have the same wattage. For standard things like computers and phones the wattage difference shouldn't be an issue and you can use a travel adapter! However, if you need to use something such as a vacuum or a hair dryer, you'll want to look into getting an electrical converter instead to not blow any sockets. Adapters are super helpful so you can charge your devices no matter where you are. I recommend a universal adapter that will have every kind of plug you need! Not only can you use it for a standard plug, but it also has multiple USB and even a USB-C port. These are so handy, I have two!
