Most birthday freebies tend to be fast food, drinks, or free makeup samples. If you dive a little deeper you can score some pretty cool perks through travel providers & that's what I'm really here for! Nothing like saving money, traveling, and celebrating your birthday!

Travel Birthday Freebies

1. AirBaltic

A regional airline based in Latvia that flies to the Baltics, Europe, and Middle East. They partner with 22 other airlines, opening them up to over 300 more destinations. For your birthday you can receive a 50% off discount on AirBaltic award flights listed in their airBaltic Award Shop. You can fly at anytime, but the deal is only valid when booked on your birthday.

2. Air Canada

The Aeroplan program through Air Canada sends an email with five different offers to choose from but this offer does appear to be targeted at certain customers only. Make sure your birthday is included on your account to increase your chances of receiving this! The offers they have include:

• 25% off base fares for flights, plus preferred seating
• 5x on your next ride with Uber
• 10% off Air Canada vacation packages
• 500 Aeroplan points when you spend $50 in the Aeroplan eStore
• 100 Aeroplan points

You must choose which perk you want within one month of receiving the email. If you opt for the first perk it's worth noting you must take the flight with Air Canada and not a partner airline within six months of booking. The preferred seating also extends to up to five travel companions, but is subject to availability. 

3. Alaska Airlines

Alaska Airlines has a nice and simple offer of 5% off flights taken during the weeks around your birthday. This discount will apply to you as well as any travel companions on your reservation! You do need to qualify for Alaska's Free Guest Rewards Program first. 

4. Avianca

Avianca LifeMiles has a very straightforward birthday gift! You can receive 500 bonus miles when booking a domestic flight & 1000 bonus miles for an international flight. You do have to enter the promo code you receive in your birthday email from them to redeem this offer.

5. Bangkok Airways

There are two different birthday offers available through Bangkok Airways! First, you could earn up to 3,250 bonus points through accumulating points through Bangkok Airways and their partners. Second, you can earn additional bonus points when you earn points through all five categories in the chart below during the month of your birthday. To be able to earn these bonuses you do need to sign up for a Flyer Bonus Account as well as their Birthday Bonus. Only paid flights qualify towards birthday bonus points. 

6. China Airlines

China Airlines Dynasty members can received a 5% discount when booking a flight through China or Mandarin Airlines during the month before their birthday. The discount goes up to 10% for regional business class flights in Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, India, Guam, Palau, Hong Kong, and Mainland China. As a bonus this discount is extended to not only your ticket but all other parties on your reservation. You have to book through your special birthday discount link to redeem this offer.

As an added bonus, Paragon, Emerald, and Gold card members who take eligible flights during their birthday month will earn 2,000 bonus miles. You can learn more about that here.

7. Disney Parks

Disney will make you feel like a Disney Prince or Princess on your birthday! First, you'll want to pick up a special birthday button from customer service. This will allow cast members to know you're celebrating so they can greet you! You might be able to unlock special discounts at the Disney hotels and restaurants while you have your button, but this isn't guaranteed. Make sure to keep a copy of your receipts and booking information as some offers will require you to show proof of a valid ticket for your birthday date. 

8. Kimpton Hotels

There's no guarantee to this one, but loyal guests of these boutique hotels who inform staff they're celebrating a birthday have been known to get some great surprises! Some former guests have given examples of flowers, balloons, or desserts delivered to their rooms. It would be best to inform the hotel prior to your arrival and then you can see if you get spoiled for your special day!

9. Marriott Hotels

Marriott is a great hotel chain with some fabulous locations around the world and they have a pretty intense loyalty program to go with it! Knowing that, Marriott has been known to give members holding status a free night to celebrate! So if you're a fan of this chain, make sure they have your birthday on file & keep working your way up to be one of the lucky ones!

10. Norwegian Cruise Lines

A major cruise line that sails all over the world, well known for their Free At Sea packages & one of my favorites! However, if you let the cruise line know before you sail that you're celebrating a birthday, when you arrive at your cabin on embarkation day you'll have a coupon for a free birthday cake to use at dinner! You can use this on any night, just make sure to present it to your server. It does work at the specialty restaurants! 

11. Singapore Airlines

Singapore Airlines has a reputation for taking great care of their customers for their birthdays! For starters you can earn up to 2000 bonus points when you fly within three months of your birthday and this only requires having KrisFlyer account. In order to earn these you have to meet the following requirements:

• You must take a flight with either Singapore Airlines or Scoot within three months of your birthday.
• Only paid flights qualify.
• The amount of miles you earn depends on your membership tier:
• 1,000 bonus miles for KrisFlyer members.
• 1,500 bonus miles for KrisFlyer Elite Silver and Elite Gold members.
• 2,000 bonus miles for PPS Club members.

This airline has also been known to provide free premium alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well as birthday cake on long-haul flights if you're flying on your actual birthday! Make sure to give the airline a heads-up before you fly so they can load your treats onto the plane.

12. Southwest Airlines

So Southwest doesn't have an actual birthday policy but they are known for celebrating holidays and events with free premium drinks for travelers on those days. Think New Years, Thanksgiving, Valentines Day, etc. They also celebrate their founding day of June 18th so if your birthday is around there you might be in luck for some goodies! Otherwise, it wouldn't hurt to tell them you're flying on your birthday as the crew might surprise you!

Final Thoughts

These are all great places to try and score some deals during your birthday month! However, don't be afraid to simply tell people you're celebrating a birthday, especially if you have some sort of status with a brand. You never know what they might be able to do for you!
